When is the fish fry?
Every first Saturday of the month from 12:30-6:30 PM. (except when the first Saturday falls on a major holiday) Where is the fish fry located? The fish fry is in the New Life Center of the East Colbert church of Christ. The New Life Center is the building behind the main church building. Where do the profits go? Each year since the beginning of the fish fry, the profits have been used to send missionaries into twelve countries and give back to the needy in our community. When did the fish fry start? The first fish fry was held on October 7, 2000. How many people come to the fish fry? An average crowd is around 1000 people. Who works at the fish fry? Members of the East Colbert church of Christ volunteer their time to cook, serve, and clean at the fish fry. In July 2000, the members of East Colbert Church of Christ started planning a fish fry. It was to be held every first Saturday of the month. On October 7, 2000, the fish fry had its beginning. For ten years the fish fry has funded missionaries, helped the needy in the community, fed the hungry, and clothed those who needed clothes. Fish fry money is not connected in any way with the church treasury and none of the proceeds of this effort is spent on the church. After expenses are paid, all of the money is used for mission work and benevolence. The fish fry atmosphere is friendly and inviting and many families and friends meet there each month. Many people have commented that this is the best thing to happen in the community. All of the labor is free; no one is paid to put the fish fry on. It is done as a service to the community as well as to help the less fortunate and missionaries. The fish fry begins serving at 12:30 PM and ends at 6:30 PM. The only months we do not serve fish is if the first Saturday falls on January 1 or July 4. We appreciate all of our customers and it is a real pleasure to serve.
